For more than four decades we have been the bridge between Lake Wylie's businesses, residents, and the leaders who shape the region.

The Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce is a private, nonprofit organization representing nearly 300 member businesses located in and around the vibrant Lake Wylie community of South Carolina. Strategically positioned along the state line between South Carolina and North Carolina, Lake Wylie offers the unique charm of a lakeside lifestyle while being just minutes from Rock Hill, SC and Charlotte, NC.
Since our founding, the Chamber has served as a driving force for local economic growth, community development, and business advocacy. We work to foster a pro-business environment where entrepreneurs, professionals, and organizations of all sizes can thrive.
Meet the Board of Directors
To build a business environment that creates economic prosperity for our members and our community by serving as the voice of the business community and by providing a support network for members.
From a handful of business owners seeking an identity for a fast-growing community to a 300-member organization that helped bring a bridge, a post office, and a name to the lake.
Ambassador Mark Erwin, John Wilkerson, Mary Frances Coon, Jack Allen, Roberta Spampinato, Al Powell, and other business owners founded the Chamber to give identity to the fast-growing community and a voice on county boards and commissions. South Carolina Representative Herb Kirsh spoke at the first general membership meeting, and Senator Strom Thurmond addressed the first Annual Meeting.
The Chamber secured a postal substation at Lake Wylie Plaza so deliveries stopped going to Clover, won permission from Bell South and the US Postal Service to call the 831 exchange "Lake Wylie," placed the first sign identifying the area, and earned seats on county boards. As legislative liaison to the York County Economic Development board, the Chamber helped drive growth that would see a 189% population increase and Highway 49 traffic rise from 2,000 to over 40,000 vehicles a day.
The Chamber launched Adopt-a-Highway on Highway 49, introduced recycling programs in York County, and successfully lobbied, with support from Senators Thurmond and Peeler, for the widening and raising of the Highway 49 bridge. Water and sewer services were extended around the lake, beautification projects added trees, sidewalks, and signs, and the Chamber helped bring cable, internet, and gas service, advised on the creation of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, and supported Catawba Riverkeeper lake cleanups.
Annual Riversweep, Adopt-a-Stream, drain marking, and "Going Green" programs raised awareness of protecting the waterways. In 2006, with help from Senator Harvey Peeler and the state, the Chamber purchased the Lake Wylie Business Centre office condominiums at 264 Latitude Lane as a visitor center, small business center, and furnished rental offices. Signature events took shape: the Splash Dash, Holiday Boat Parade, Fourth of July Fireworks with YMCA Camp Thunderbird, Business After Hours, the Annual Golf Classic, and Lake Wylie Today magazine, twice a first-place winner.
Nearly 300 members strong, the Chamber continues to lead the area toward becoming a premier destination for living, working, and conducting business, with a quarterly magazine, an annual Newcomers Guide, a searchable business directory, and a full calendar of community events.
